Margie Faye Rivers Holifield, age 92, of Biloxi and formerly of Gautier passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Ocean Springs Hospital.  She was born February 11, 1932 in Laurel, Mississippi and graduated from Shady Grove High School.

She married the love of her life Harold Lavern Holifield on September 25, 1959. Together this couple truly became as one. She enjoyed the simple things of life over extravagance, and preferred others needs before her own.  She devoted her life to being a homemaker and raising her children with strong family values and providing for their needs.

In 1982 until her retirement in 1994, she taught four-year-olds at First Baptist Church in Gautier and the relationships she developed with the children made a life time impact on them as they lovingly called her by name “Mrs. Margie” anywhere she saw them all of these years.  

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Gautier until her health declined as she enjoying her Ladies Sunday School class, cooking for the “Wednesday Night Suppers” and bereavement committee.  

Mrs. Margie will be remembered for her gently and giving spirit that she gave to everyone that knew her especially in her later years as she enjoyed sharing her things with people she adored.   

She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Harold Lavern Holifield; two sisters, Shirley Langford and Carolyn Rogers; brother, George Rivers.

Mrs. Holifield is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Scott Holifield (Lisa) Arab, AL; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan Holifield Stewart (Larry) Bay St. Louis, MS; brother, John Herman Rivers (Maurice), Ellisville, MS; numerous step-grandchildren and step- great grandchildren; nieces, nephew, and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, 10:00-11:00am, at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula.  Funeral Service will begin at 11:00am with Rev. Eugene Eubanks officiating.  Interment will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery in Gautier, MS.
