Ethel May Dawson Obituary

Ethel May Dawson, 92, of Clinton Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024. Born on January 19, 1932, to Frederick and Eva Graham, Ethel lived a remarkable life defined by her love for family, her zest for travel, and her joyful spirit. She was the beloved wife of the late Ronald Dawson, with whom she shared an extraordinary 71 years of marriage. Together, they created a close-knit family that was Ethel’s greatest source of pride and happiness. She was the cherished mother of Ronald Dawson (the late Nancy), a loving grandmother to Rachel Wozniak (David), and a proud great-grandmother to David and Ronald.

Ethel was a devoted sister to Eva Cox, Chancy Graham, Frederick Graham, and the late Jessie Palmer. Born and raised in Detroit, she maintained lifelong connections to her roots while embracing the opportunity to explore the world around her.

A passionate traveler, Ethel and Ronald journeyed across the lower 48 states, often accompanied by their granddaughter Rachel. They loved the freedom of driving, allowing them to stop and savor the beauty of their surroundings or enjoy a meal at a favorite restaurant. Among her many travels, Ethel held a special fondness for visiting family in Kentucky.

Ethel’s love of cars was a lifelong passion, and her blue 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass held a special place in her heart. She also had a flair for life’s finer things, delighting in dressing up, glittery clothes, and sharing laughter and joy with those around her.

Working for many years as a housekeeper for A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Directors, Ethel's warmth and care touched many lives. At home, she was known for her comforting pot roast dinners with mashed potatoes and carrots, as well as her delicious cakes and cookies.

Ethel’s unwavering positivity and boundless energy made her a beacon of happiness for her family and friends. She lived life to the fullest, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Ethel will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family invites friends to join in celebrating her extraordinary life and the joy she brought to the world. Family will be receiving friends on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 2-8pm at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Directors, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy, Michigan, 48084.
