Lois E. Koepp (nee Lasco), 95, of Elyria, died Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Danbury of North Ridgeville under the care of Hospice of the Western Reserve after a lengthy illness. She was born September 6, 1929 in Lorain and was a graduate of St. Mary High School, Lorain. She attended Ohio University and Kent State University and graduated from LCCC with an associate degree in early childhood education. Lois was a substitute teacher for Elyria City Schools and for over 20 years, taught at Head Start in Elyria as a preschool teacher, from where she retired. She was a long-time member of St. Mary Church, Elyria and past president and active member in the Alter and Rosary Society. After retirement, Lois volunteered at UH Elyria Medical Center as a Stephen Minister. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, watching the Cleveland Indians, gardening and planting flowers, traveling with family and playing bridge and canasta with friends.
Lois is survived by daughters, Dianne (Dennis) Schisler of Ocean Isle Beach, NC and Amy (Dennis) Hummel of Elyria; grandchildren, Matthew (Kathy) Schisler, Scott (Laura) Schisler, Drs. Jacob (Laura) Hummel, Erica (Jamus) Powers, Austin (Kaley) Worley, Jaiden (Paul) Ruez and Kyle (Jordan) Worley; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Col. Gerald (Dorothy) Lasco.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Martin in 2010; daughter, Lori Worley in 2006; an infant son; parents, Ben and Vera Lasco and sisters, Evelyn Alten and Carol Sellers.
Friends will be received Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 11:00 am until 12:15 pm in the Weigand Room at St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Avenue, Elyria, followed by a 12:30 pm funeral mass with Reverend Charles T. Diedrick officiating. A social gathering will follow mass. Burial will be Monday, November 25, 2024 at 11:00 am at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
