Kathleen Marie Pursell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend passed away peacefully in her home in Rock Falls, Illinois on November 19, 2024. She was 85 years old.

She was born on the family farm in Wisconsin to Amos and Carrie (Milham) Bartels on September 29, 1939. She was the 10th of eleven children. She married the love of her life, Marvin Pursell in October 1957. They were married for 67 years. They raised their family in Rock Falls and spent the winters in Arizona after retirement. Kathleen’s greatest joy in life was her family. She always put them first and would do anything for them. She was a loving and caring individual. Kathleen enjoyed many activities such as sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, playing games and cards, spending time with the family, Swedish weaving, beading, and walking. Her family members were the fortunate recipients of her beautiful work. Kathleen held several jobs throughout her life with the last one being the secretary to the superintendent of District 13 for 25 years. She was a long-time member of the Rock Falls United Methodist Church. She volunteered as their secretary, kept the books for Bear Necessities, passed out food, and served on countless committees. She volunteered as a room mother when her children were young, acted as a Scout leader, and served as a Rock Falls Marching Rockets Band booster’s member.

Katleen is survived by her husband Marvin and her children Bradley (Cindy) Pursell of Tipton, Iowa, Jeffrey (Connie) Pursell of Rock Falls, and Betsy Pursell Bunning of Rock Falls. She had eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and several great, great grandchildren.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her beloved son Joel Pursell, her parents, and all ten of her siblings and their spouses. She will be greatly missed by her family and everyone who knew her.

Visitation will be Saturday November 23, 2024 from 9-11 AM at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The funeral will follow at 11 AM with the Reverend Jason Borton officiating. Burial will conclude at Oak Knoll Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
