Our Mom, Evelyn Lengyel, left her home on Earth on November 19, 2024 to join her family who preceded her in death. Evie was the middle child of three, born to Edna and Jacob Ebenhoch in 1933. Raised at Annunciation Catholic Church where she attended grade school, she went on to graduate from Central High School in Akron, Ohio. She remained in the Akron area her entire life.
A busy homemaker and mother of five daughters, she planned parties for many occasions and made our holidays magical. She was a brilliant decorator, a skill which she passed on to her daughters and their children. Evelyn was talented with a sewing machine, and artistic with pencils and crayons on paper. She cooked family meals daily and taught her girls to clean, iron and all things maternal. She loved her family; we loved her more.
Ev was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Brenda Perkins, and her oldest grandson, Christopher Perkins with whom she will now be reunited; also her parents, siblings Norma and Thomas and their spouses, her son-in-law, Bruce Fithian, and the father of her daughters, John S. Lengyel.
Ev will be missed by those surviving her, Gary T. Rizzi, her life companion, who cared graciously for her until her death; daughters, Linda (Michael) Poinar, Sandra Fithian, Kara (Michael) Castellano, and Donna Bates; grandchildren Zach (Kristen) Poinar, Noah (Emily) Poinar, Terry Jeff, Jacob (Andrea McFadden) Fatica, Emily Fatica, Jordan Fatica, Maggi Fatica, Claire Fatica, Carson (Kristen) Wedlake, and Elizabeth Bates; 6 great grandchildren Elli Nicole, Zachary James, Vera Leigh, Evelyn Marie, Owen Samuel, and one she will never cradle in her arms.
Our family graciously thanks Gentiva for their hospice care and compassion during this time.
The family will receive guests from 11:00AM-1:00PM on Saturday, November 23 at Anthony Funeral Home, McGowan-Reid and Santos Chapel, 247 Stow Ave in Cuyahoga Falls, where a funeral service will be held at 1PM. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.
