Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Carolyn "Carol" Morris
March 11, 1958 – November 19, 2024

With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Carolyn Morris, a woman who knew how to light up a room and lived her life with an infectious spirit that touched everyone she encountered. Born on March 11, 1958, Carolyn graced this world with her boundless energy, spontaneity, and resilience until her transition on November 19, 2024.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Virsel Morris, her father, AulanderAskew, and her cherished grandparents, Leila and Joel Morris. Though they are no longer with us, Carolyn carried their strength and love within her every step of her remarkable journey.

A proud graduate of Monroe Business College, Carolyn earned her associate’s degree in business, which laid the foundation for a distinguished career. For 38 years, Carolyn faithfully served the City of New York, dedicating herself to her community and retiring as a respected and cherished member of the city’s workforce.

Her commitment, professionalism, and warmth left an enduring mark on her colleagues and the people she served. Carolyn wasn’t just a warrior by circumstance—she was a warrior by nature. Her resilience and zest for life defined her, empowering her to navigate challenges with grace and determination while inspiring everyone around her.

She was full of life, bold in her spontaneity, and fearless in her love for those close to her. Whether you were family, friend, or one of her many “non-blood sisters,” Carolyn made you feel valued and cherished, always leaving you better than she found you.

Carolyn leaves a legacy of love that will forever be cherished by her devoted husband, Steven Walden of Newport News, Virginia; her beloved daughter, Saraya Waddler (Walter) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and her pride and joy, grandson Darius Brown of Norfolk, Virginia. She is also survived by her brothers, George Morris (Patti) of North Carolina and Alex Askew (Maria) of New York; her sister, Barbara Peterson (John) of Indiana; and her nephews, Tylor
Morris, Jacob Morris, and Sean Askew. Carolyn’s circle of love extended far beyond her family. She will be deeply missed by her
extended sisterhood of “non-blood sisters,” including Linda Smith, Diane Gordon, Schantil Poitier, Cora Wilson, Rose Marie Benitez, Catrina Kelly, Carrien Bailey (Yaddie), Vera (Aunt Jean) Lawrence, and Helen (Denise) Graham. Carolyn’s life was a tapestry woven with love, spontaneity, and unshakable faith. As we say goodbye, let us remember her as she was: a radiant force, a resilient warrior, and a beacon of joy. She will live forever in our hearts, her laughter echoing in our memories.
