Margaret Elizabeth Wright, 88, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024, at Mill Manor Nursing Home in Vermilion.
Born July 3, 1936 in Tellico Plains, Tennessee, and raised in Dayton, Ohio, she was a natural born caregiver, a voice for the voiceless, and a champion for all those in need.
Strong-willed all her life, Margaret met her husband of 58 years, John Wright, during an argument over a basketball game, and followed him halfway across the world while he was stationed in the Philippines, prior to making their home in Amherst.
When her grandchildren were born, no matter their interests–from sports to the arts, and everything in between–she never missed an opportunity to attend anything they were participating in. Her devotion to them was unmatched.
For decades, Margaret and her husband hosted family dinners each Sunday, and annual Christmas Eve parties where any and everyone was welcome. Together, they offered the warmth of home to anyone who walked through their door.
In addition to her role as a homemaker, Margaret worked as a medical secretary. She served her community through her work with the Lorain County Medical Society and the Amherst Office on Aging.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Eugene (Susan) Wright of Amherst, James (Angel) Wright of Amherst, Grandchildren, Erin (Lou) Patten, Ashlee (Jim) Hammond, Jonathan Wright, Jessica Wright, Jacob Wright, four great grandchildren, Madison, JJ, Zane, & Jax, and siblings Judy (Bart) Bellus of Summerville, South Carolina, and William (Judy) Mitchell of Nashville, Tennessee.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, John Wright, and siblings Patricia Stefano, Robert Mitchell, and Jerry Mitchell, as well as her beloved dachshund, Lucy.
