Eleanor M. "Ellie" (Precopio) Shaughnessy
Of Waltham, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning November 19th, 2024 with loving family by her side in the comfort of the Lasell House in Newton after a brief illness at the age of 87.
Born on May 12, 1937 in Newton; daughter of the late Antonio Precopio and Camilla (Ratta) Precopio.
Ellie graduated from St. Bernard High School in West Newton and has been a Waltham resident for over 50 years. She worked for several years as a Loan Statistician at a local bank and for many years as an office support assistant. Her volunteer services encompassed the Purchasing Department, Voting Polls, Personnel Department and the Library all in the city of Waltham.
She enjoyed Thursdays at the Library, good books, classical music, good movies, stage musicals and plays, annual “therapy” weekends at Mary and Don’s with friends in West Yarmouth, lobster on Cape Ann, lunch with friends, the “sights” in Boston’s North End, lobster and steak get-togethers when Michael was home with his family, Prime Rib at Wayside Inn and memories of Christmas mornings past with family enjoying Antoine’s pastry and Asti Spumonte.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband (Ret.) Waltham Firefighter Richard K. Shaughnessy in 2023.
Ellie is survived by her devoted & loving children Michael, and his wife, Marie of Virginia Beach, VA; Patricia “Tisha” Sullivan and her husband Gene of Medford; David and his wife Beth of Natick and Brian and his wife Vicki of Beverly. Proud grandmother of Jenni and Colleen Shaughnessy; Scott and Eleanor “Lillie” Sullivan; Patrick, Daniel and Ryan Shaughnessy. Sister of the late Dominic Precopio of West Newton, the late Mary Napolitano of Newtonville, the late Stephen Precopio of Watertown and the late Frances Coleman.
Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Eleanor's life and remember the love and friendship she shared with so many others at a Funeral Service in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on MONDAY morning November 25th at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham.
Those who wish to pay their respects to Ellie and her family can do so in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on MONDAY morning prior to the funeral service from 10am until 11:30 am.
