John Robert Hansen, aged 94, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024, in Manteo, North Carolina. Born on August 8, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, John led a life marked by dedication, service, and exploration.

John honorably served his country as a sergeant in the United States Air Force, displaying a steadfast commitment to duty that characterized much of his life. After his service, he pursued higher education and earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. This achievement paved the way for a long and fulfilling career with AT&T, where he dedicated 34 years before retiring.

A man of broad horizons and adventurous spirit, John traveled extensively, experiencing diverse cultures and landscapes that enriched his perspective on the world. His interests were complemented by his memberships with the Masons and the Scottish Rite, and his past involvement with the Shriners reflected a commitment to community and fellowship.

John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Norene Glasser Hansen, his parents Anna Christensen Hansen and Axel Hansen, as well as his siblings Sylvia, Edith, William, and Gerald. He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his daughter, Deborah Storer of Bella Vista, Arkansas; his son, John Frank Hansen and daughter-in-law Carolyn of South Dakota; and six grandchildren, Jennifer Hadra, who cared for him during his final three and a half years, Meghan Hadra, Kristen Hadra, Jamie Hansen-Frankenstein, Eric Hansen, and Keith Hansen.

In keeping with John's wishes, there will be no formal service. Inurnment will take place at Highlands United Methodist Church Cemetery in Bella Vista, Arkansas, where family and friends can gather informally to pay their respects and celebrate his remarkable life.

John Robert Hansen will be remembered for his dedication to family, his service to country, and the joy he found in exploring the world around him. His legacy lives on through those who knew and loved him.
