Lillian (Alessi) Scapicchio, age 95, of Nahant, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Peter S. Scapicchio. She was raised in South Boston, the daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Sciaba) Alessi. She had lived in Nahant for nearly 70 years.
Lillian had worked for Western Union for 28 years. Her love of flowers was her passion, she has one of the best looking yards in Nahant. Her garden of tomatoes and vegetables that her late husband Peter proudly planted and took care of for over 20 years was their pride and joy. She loved gardening, eating and shopping and for many years enjoyed the time she spent at the Nahant Senior Center. There she enjoyed the excellent lunch they created each day as well as the many friends and workers she loved spending time with. She was grateful to her grandson, John Tamasi and her nephew John Caprio, her “favorite Johnny’s”, for their help and companionship over the years.
She is survived by her daughter, Marie Tamasi-Englert and her husband Ralph of Boynton Beach, FL; as well as nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Dr. John Strobis as well as her four brothers and sisters.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 11AM in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Nahant. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visitation will be in the church from 10AM-11AM, prior to the mass.
