Rose Marie Gross Obituary

Obituary Rose Marie Gross

Rose Marie went to her Lord at Columbia Forest LTCH in Waterloo, Ontario on November 18, age 94, after a 10 year journey with Alzheimer's.

Beloved wife of the late Frank Gross (Aug 31, 1986). Loving mother of Paul Gross (Betty), Gloria Montserin (Tim) and Maggie Gross; grandmother to Jessica Bayne (Ryan), David Gross (Kelly), Rosanne Raso (Scott), Marie-Clare Gross-Torres (Bruno Torres), Hope Gross and great-grandmother to Celina and Alexander Gross, Samuel and Sergio Torres and Teagan Raso.

Predeceased by parents Jack and Hazel Vincent, both younger brothers and spouses, John (Jean Schramm) and David Vincent (Beverley Vincent). Survived by nieces Jayne Boudreau (Cal) and Lisa Vincent (great-nieces Saigha, Chloe), first cousins Chris Caselton of Menominee, MI and Anita Jenssen of Minneapolis, MN.

After graduating from Normal School in Peterborough in 1950, Rose Marie moved to Kitchener and taught at St. Mary's Elementary. She met Frank Gross at a dance, and they married in 1952. She continued to supply teach after starting a family, then full time at St. Paul's and Sacred Heart schools in 1965-67 while her husband established Frank's Produce. She assisted with bookkeeping for the business.

She believed in getting a good education, encouraging her children to succeed. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in 1975 at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Her creative streak was celebrated in gardening, painting, baking, sewing, and crocheting. She installed a greenhouse in the backyard to grow those hard to find plants. She studied painting and her work adorns our walls, she volunteered with the Food Bank, Out of the Cold, visiting with the elderly of the parish, crocheting pneumonia vests for Canadian Food for Children.

She golfed for exercise, not the perfection of it. She loved swimming from early days in the Trent Canal down the street from home in Peterborough and summers on Buckhorn Lake and later in the backyard pool. She loved getting together with friends and played Bridge until 2016. She developed a love of travel and journeyed throughout Europe, and the Americas. Her last trip in her 80's was to the Holy Land.

Rose Marie was a woman of faith, serving over 60 years as a member of the Catholic Women's League of Canada, a longtime participant in her small faith group and found a church on every vacation, even by hour long bus ride, Cuba 1999.

The family would like to thank the staff at Columbia Forest for their loving care for the past 6 years.

Rose Marie's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 2-5 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener 519-749-8467.
