Aurelia R. Gissoni, 96, passed away November 18, 2024.
Aurelia was born in New York City and formerly of Somerville for many years before recently moving to Hillsborough. She was employed as an office manager for the Somerset County Planning Board for over 20 years, retiring in 1994. She was a Eucharistic minister and longtime parishioner at the church of Immaculate Conception in Somerville. Aurelia volunteered at the Wellness Community of Central New Jersey creating a library for the participants and more. She also volunteered at the Somerset County Office of Aging. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, and playing cards and games with family and friends. Aurelia enjoyed her weekly family dinners and the monthly Book Club get together. She will be sadly missed by all.
She is predeceased by her husband Edward Gissoni who passed away in 1994.
Surviving is her daughters Barbara Snyder (Gregg), Kathleen Gangwer (Ron Sterner), and Joan Armstrong (Bill), a sister Lucille Tannini, grandchildren Erika Thorne (Anthony Karcher), Jennifer Denson and her husband Michael, Gregg Snyder Jr. and his wife Jamie, Jonathan Gangwer, and Robert Snyder and great grandchildren Brady Snyder, Emily Denson, Tyler Denson, Blake Snyder, and Kayleigh Denson.
Prayers will be 9am Saturday at Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave, Somerville followed by a 10am mass at Immaculate Conception Church, 35 Mountain Ave, Somerville. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater.
Visitation will be 2-4pm and 7-9pm Friday at the funeral home.
