Dudley Bishop Henderson, 85, departed this life peacefully on November 9, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital-St. Raphael's Campus with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of JoAnn (Postemsky) Henderson. Dudley was born in Hartford, CT on February 21, 1939 to the late Donald & Florence (Packer) Henderson.
Dudley graduated from the University of Connecticut and worked at Pratt & Whitney as Manager of Office Systems Technology. After taking early retirement, he began his second career as a published genealogist. He took great pride in his family history and would light up the room when sharing stories of his ancestors.
Dudley's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He spent countless summers at his family’s home on Otis Reservoir. Dudley loved summer vacations in Maine as a child and later in life with his family where they enjoyed lobster fresh off the boat. Myrtle Beach was another favorite destination where he enjoyed many family vacations and golf trips with friends. Dudley always looked forward to his monthly lunches with his friends from Pratt & Whitney. He was an avid UConn basketball and Red Sox fan.
In addition to his wife, Dudley is survived by his son Todd Henderson and his wife Robin of Coventry, CT; his daughter Robin Moscato and her late husband Dominic of Wallingford, CT and his daughter Kristin Hultgren and her husband Gary of Wallingford, CT. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Carissa Newman (Jonathan), Todd Henderson (Taylor), Kate Siok (Daniel), Lauren Pipenbacher (Anton), Michael Moscato (Fiancee, Carly), Erik Hultgren, Bryan Hultgren, and Matthew Hultgren, as well as his great-grandchildren: Jace and Colton Newman; his brother Richard Packer Henderson (Janet); and his sister in law, Judith Postemsky.
Dudley will be laid to rest at River Bend Cemetery in Westerly, RI, where he spent a number of years in Misquamicut and boating with his family on the Rhode Island coast. All services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford, Connecticut has been entrusted with the arrangements.
