Alfred E. Cummings, age 93, Marietta OH passed away on November 11, 2024.
He was born May 30, 1931 in Towanda, PA, the son of the late Robert and Rebecca (Bruce) Cummings. He graduated from the Miller School of Albemarle, Charlottesville, VA. He was an Army Veteran serving in the Korean War.
He retired from B F Goodrich and had also worked as a Policeman for the City of Marietta and a Self Employed Contractor. He was a member of VFW Post 5108, American Legion Post 64, Disabled American Veterans, Captain James Neal Society of the Sons of the American Revolution and Washington County Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Joann Schoeppner Cummings, four sons, Michael Cummings (Debra), Columbus OH, David Cummings (Trina), Marietta, OH, Paul Cummings (Laurie), Logan OH and John Cummings (Alfredo), Austin, TX and one daughter, Barbara Cassidy (Brian), Austin, TX. Five Grandchildren, Rosa Cummings, Richmond VA, Chuck Cassidy (Katelyn), Austin TX, Margaret Cassidy, Austin TX, Kristopher Cummings (Morgan), Hilliard OH, and Caleb Cummings (Emma) Cincinnati, OH; One Great Granddaughter, Olivia Cassidy, Austin, TX and Two Great Grandsons, Scott Cummings, Hilliard, OH and Case Cassidy, Austin, TX, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, three brothers preceded him in death, Joseph W. Cummings, Richard A. Cummings, Robert C. Cummings and one sister, Patricia Holland.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike Street, Marietta, OH, with burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Marietta OH. Visitation will be from 12-2 PM Thursday at the Funeral Home.
