Elaine Margaret Astuto, 61, very special daughter of Lawrence and Jeanette (Wood), now rests peacefully beside them. She was preceded in death by her sister, Laureen, and her cat, Blackie. She will be greatly missed forever by her sister, Carol, and by all those who had the privilege to know her. She loved life and brought great joy to many lives. Born in Rockland, she lived for over 40 years in the Plymouth/Kingston area and left a lasting impression with everyone she met. She had a great sense of humor, a loving and compassionate heart, and a resilient spirit. She packed a big personality into a tiny body. She was truly "one-of-a-kind." Elaine was a good bowler, a Red Sox fan, loved music and her favorite TV shows, enjoyed swimming, vacations, boats and the harbor and, especially, playing with her cards. She had an artistic and creative side and spent many hours decorating her room and her furniture with favorite pictures, stickers and photos. Elaine was currently attending a day program at the Efron Center for Enrichment where staff provided her with much attention and caring and many happy hours. Elaine passed away suddenly on November 5 at her home in Kingston, where she had lived for the past 12 years with her housemates. Her devoted and loving staff always provided her with the best personal care and presented any opportunities available to ensure that she enjoyed the quality of life she deserved.
