Eugenia Ann Davis was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on September 9, 1934 to W.P. “Bill” and Rubye Atkinson. She was raised in Oklahoma City and graduated from Classen High School. During her time in high school she also attended Ward-Belmont in Nashville, Tennessee. Upon graduation from high school, Eugenia attended Oklahoma City University, where she met the love of her life, Joe Davis.
After marrying on July 3, 1954, they relocated first to Savannah, Georgia and then Washington D.C. while Joe served in the military. Eugenia and Joe moved back to Midwest City to start a family, welcoming daughter, Lucinda Lee, in 1957 and son, Joe Bryan, in 1960. Eugenia enjoyed supporting her family as a homemaker, and once her children were older, began working at Atkinson Properties. Along with her husband, they managed multiple shopping centers in Midwest City, taking great joy in building relationships with the tenants. Eugenia was very active in civic organizations including Midwest City Junior Service League, PEO Chapter FF and Midwest City Council of Garden Clubs, member of the Primrose Garden Club. As a member of St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church for many years, Eugenia attended the 8:30 am service, prepared the unleavened bread for communion each week and enjoyed quality time with her Sunday School class and Esther’s Circle. Later in life she enjoyed watching the St. Luke’s Methodist Church service from home. Much like her mother, Rubye, Eugenia was very skilled in arts and crafts, most notably china painting and needle point. She loved traveling the country with her husband, big family vacations and never turned down a senior bus trip to Branson. She was a wonderful cook, always whipping up recipes learned while visiting family in East Texas during the summers. She was a gracious hostess, exuding warmth and kindness to everyone in her reach. She was lovingly referred to as Grammy by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, their friends and all who met her later in life. There was nothing more Eugenia loved than her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.P. “Bill” and Rubye Atkinson; siblings W.J. “Bill” Atkinson and Jeannette Yantis; husband Joe W. Davis; son-in-law Keith Mikeman. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Lucinda (Cindy) Mikeman of Midwest City; son, Joe Davis and wife Susan of Edmond; grandchildren, Emily Bush and husband Brandon, Amy Mikeman, Matthew Davis and wife Lauren, and Jonathan Davis and wife Masyn; great-grandchildren, Brynn Bush, Everly Bush, Bodi Bush and Oaklee Davis; countless extended family and friends.
