Billie B. Smith Obituary

Billie B. Hausenfluck Smith was born on January 15, 1929, in Georgetown, Texas to Frank and Lillie (Guthrie) Hausenfluck. She passed away on November 7, 2024, in Burleson, Texas.

Billie was raised in Georgetown. She grew up riding horses and working with the animals on her family’s ranch. She was a genuine cowgirl who rode straight-away barrels in rodeos and was a member of a mounted quadrille with her favorite horse, Ranger. She was the first ever Williamson County Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo Queen.

Billie graduated from Georgetown High School in 1946 and eventually settled in San Marcos to raise her family. She worked for the Federal Land Bank of San Marcos for 23 years before moving to Round Rock to work for the Bank’s headquarters in Austin until her retirement in 1990.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church in San Marcos, serving as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Upon moving to Round Rock, Billie continued her service at First Baptist Church Round Rock, again as a Sunday School teacher, Welcome Center coordinator and founding member of the Elderberry senior group.

After retiring, she enjoyed traveling across the U.S. and cruising with church friends and other travel groups. However, her greatest passion was spending time with her family. She never missed ball games, track meets, drill team performances, awards ceremonies or concerts her kids were involved in. Her home was where others would congregate for a meal or a sleepover.

Her pride and joy were her granddaughters. Grand mommy was always available to babysit or take them on summer adventures. That love of family only increased with the addition of her great-grandchildren.

In her later years, Billie became an active resident of Provident Crossing Retirement Resort where she enjoyed Bingo, bean bag baseball, Wii Bowling and making new friends. She had recently moved to Burleson to be closer to family.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Joyce Rosenbusch and brothers-in-law Rudolf Rosenbusch and Max Campbell.

She is survived by her son, Snuffy Smith, daughter Denny Warren and husband Rick, granddaughters Amanda Rackel and husband Jonathan, and Kayla Keese and husband Kyle, her great grandchildren Evi and Hailey Garza, Kenley and Evan Rackel and Brody Keese, as well as her sister Donna Campbell along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

The family wishes to thank Marcia Logan of Elara Hospice and the caring staff at Wilshire Assisted Living in Burleson who provided compassionate and professional care during the last year.

Funeral services will be held; Tuesday, November 12, 2024, 1:00 PM at Beck Funeral Home, 4765 Priem Lane in Pflugerville with burial at Palm Valley Cemetery, 2500 E. Palm Valley Blvd in Round Rock.
