Jett Michael Hernandez Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Jett Michael Hernandez,

3, and his older sister, Sophia Grace Johnson, 9, of LaRue, TX, on Thursday, October 24, 2024.

Jett was born on August 2, 2021, to adoring parents, Drake Michael Hernandez of Waxahachie, TX and Kaleigh

Grace Johnson, of LaRue, TX. He was the treasured grandson of grandparents, Oscar Hernandez and Gloria

Munguia (paternal) of Waxahachie, TX, and Tim Johnson, (maternal) of Waxahachie, TX and Geoff and Jenny

Wesson, (maternal) of Larue, TX. He was also survived by great-grandfather, Gonzalo Hernandez of

Waxahachie, TX, great-grandmother Karen Bruns of Kerens, TX, and great- grandfather, Randy Johnson of

Texas City, TX. Jett also leaves behind aunts, Haley, and husband, Leo Soldevilla, of Maypearl, TX, Veronica

Hernandez, of Waxahachie, TX, Skylar Johnson, of Red Oak, TX, and uncle, Josh Wesson, of Milford, TX.

Special cousins, Trinitee and Aceyn Soldevilla, of Maypearl, TX, Noa Sanchez, of Waxahachie, TX, Drue, Tyce

and Kase Hood, of Red Oak, TX, Gavin and Veronica Bruns, of Waxahachie, TX and Olive Bruns of Austin, TX.

Our Jett answered to a variety of names, affectionately given to him by his family, including Bubba, Jett-Jett,

Bubby, Jett-ski, Jett- Pak, Jetter-Bug, Booger, and Chubbin’. He was an adventurous and animated boy, who

spent most of his day soaking up the outdoors with no shirt and bare feet. Like his sister, Sophia, Jett

developed a deep love for animals at just a few months old. He could usually be found with his favorite dog,

Birdie, digging holes and looking for something equally as messy to get into. Like his Pops, Daddy and Sissy,

he always had a softball in his hands and couldn’t wait to be on a team of his own. Jett liked tractors, trucks,

riding his scooter, helping work on cars, and playing basketball. If you wanted to make him smile, a trip to the

car wash was a big favorite of his. Jett could usually be found in his fire fighter pants, helmet and boots making

his family take turns being saved by him in various predicaments. He had a large and loving family, and he

loved traveling to their houses on weekends getting spoiled. The favorite part of Jett’s day was his walk to the

pond to throw rocks in while he waited for his Sissy to get home in the school bus. He was excited for his turn

to get to ride the school bus one day. Jett was intelligent, intuitive, lovable, and often mischievous. He was

charming and a real comedian. He was curious and inquisitive often heard asking everyone “What’r you

doin”?

Jett loved living in the country, which allowed him the room and freedom to be carefree and wild. He adored

his large family and could often be heard lovingly naming all of them. He dreamed of one day being a fire

fighter. His sister was very proud of him and treated him with respect and patience. He idolized his Sissy and

wanted to do everything she did and relished in her approval. His bright blue twinkling eyes, wide, open smile

and happy giggles were the best part of our day. Jett takes a big piece of all our hearts with him. He will be

forever missed by his adoring family, and all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held in Sophia and Jett’s honor at Cowboy Church of Ellis

County, located at 2374 W. Hwy 287 Bypass, Waxahachie, TX on Saturday, December 7, 2024. A brief

visitation will be held from 9:30-10:00am, Celebration of Life service will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a

procession to Waxahachie City Cemetery, 300 S. Hawkins St., Waxahachie TX. The family would like to extend

an invitation to share a meal immediately after at Cowboy Church of Ellis County. Our hope is that family,

friends and loved ones will gather with us to share memories and celebrate the lives of these two precious

children. Please feel comfortable to come as you are, and if you have something blue, please consider

wearing it in honor of both Sophia and Jett’s favorite color. Services are under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
