David Allen Dunn of Midwest City, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the age of 66. David was born in Austin, Texas on January 28, 1958, to Charlotte and Thomas Dunn. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Dunn, and stepfather, Jack West. He is survived by his mother, Charlotte West, brothers Darrel and Doug Dunn, his son Kyle and daughter-in-law, Kelsey, nieces Stephanie and Becky, nephew Jacob, and granddaughter, Rayne.

David was born into a military family and spent some of his childhood in Germany and France, where his father was stationed. When his father’s deployment ended, they returned to Texas where David grew up voraciously reading, and spending time outdoors at his grandfather’s farm. David graduated from Leander High School and joined the Navy soon after. David served for 18 years in the Navy, traveling across the world. He served on nuclear submarines, sub tenders, and even spent time teaching. He greatly enjoyed his time in the military but chose to retire early after the birth of his son. After his retirement from the Navy, David settled in Midwest City with his then-wife, Sheila. He started a career as an RV Technician, working for Lee’s RV, Leisure Time RV, and eventually Camping World.

David was an intelligent man, a wonderful father, a loving son and brother, and so much more. Those who knew him knew his exacting standards of workmanship, his no-nonsense attitude, and his quick and dry sense of humor. Those who worked in the shop with him also knew his love of Pink Floyd and Celtic Woman, having listened to them on repeat for weeks at a time. He would do anything for the people he cared about, and though he was as stubborn as a mule and his temper was legendarily short, he was just as quick to help whenever he was needed.

He will be greatly missed.

In accordance with David’s wishes, he will be cremated and buried at sea.

His memorial will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
