Bevis Valine White Obituary

White – Bevis Valine “Captain Bud” White, age 85, of Jacksonville Beach, Florida passed away on November 5, 2024, at Community Hospice McGraw Center for Caring with his loving family by his side. He was born in Baxley, Georgia on his farm on October 24, 1939, delivered by their family Veterinarian, Bevis. His loving parents James Edward White and Georgia Leverne Raulerson White found the name fitting and chose it for their son. Bud was raised in Baxley, Georgia and Alma, Georgia until moving to Jacksonville, Florida to live with his Aunt Cassie and Uncle Elzie Watson as a teenager. He began his working life in 1957 on an oil dredge boat. A life changing moment was when he met his best friend and forever companion, Georgia Joanne Jaber. Bud asked Georgia’s hand in marriage, and they were happily wed on August 14, 1959. Determined to better his life, Bud later completed his GED while attending night school and discovered his true passion in Automobile mechanics. He earned his Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification and went on to own and operate Bud’s Auto Kare in Jacksonville, Florida, for over 35 years. Bud was a skilled mechanic and a proud entrepreneur, known for his dedication to his work and his community. In the later years of his career, Bud pursued a new adventure, earning his Captain’s License and finding joy in being on the water. Fishing was also a beloved hobby that brought him much happiness throughout his life. His adventurous spirit, work ethic, and love for his family were always evident. Bud thoroughly enjoyed traveling and especially loved cruises. One of his most cherished trips was an Alaskan and Mediterranean cruise that Georgia and he shared together. They created many memories which they both treasured dearly. More than anything, Bud was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who took immense pride in his family and cherished each minute with them. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bud is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Georgia Joanne Jaber White of Jacksonville Beach, FL; children, Dan (Melissa) White of Atlantic Beach, FL, Steve White and former spouse Rebecca of Dahlonega, GA, and Debbie (Patrick) Millsaps of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Patricia Fouche (Ronald) Heddle of Macclenny, FL; brother, Jimmy White of Sanderson, FL; grandchildren, Spencer (Bianca) White, Nicholas (Kirsten) Smith, and Triniti Smith; nieces and nephews, Kenny (Barbara) Fouche, David (Donna) Fouche, and Melissa Azari; along with many extended family members and friends.
