Joseph K. Fielding, 89, of Cambridge, died on Monday, November 4, 2024 at Celebrate Senior Living, Moline. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, November 7th, at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Cambridge. Father Chris Haake will officiate. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Visitation will be from 10 – 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Cambridge Fire Department or the Cambridge Academic Foundation.
Joe was born on May 14, 1935 in Franklin Grove, IL, the son of James K. and Hazel (Siedell) Fielding. He graduated from Northern Illinois University, Dekalb, and later obtained his master’s degree. He was united in marriage on February 1, 1958, to Joanne Lillian Kerchner in Monroe Center, IL. She survives. Joe started his teaching career in Dixon, IL, and then taught high school math in several schools, finishing in Antioch, IL, where he retired as head of the Math Department.
Joe loved snow skiing and had served as an instructor. He enjoyed golfing and tennis, and in his younger years, he enjoyed camping with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Lora Fielding, Lynn Center; daughter, Jenny Haller, Boulder, CO; grandchildren, Melissa Fielding, John Fielding (Kylie), Mary (Ken) Feller, Henry Haller, Johann Haller (Lauren), and Sophie Haller; and great granddaughter, Lucy. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, April; one brother; and one sister.
