Rosina Caroline Thomsen Hereth was born January 21, 1923, to Lewis and Gertrude Thomsen in Millette, South Dakota. Rosina passed at her residence at The Cottages in Emmett on October 14, 2024 at the age of 101 years and 9 months. Mom's special, loving friend and caregiver, Kelly Ferguson, was at her side.
Rosina lived in South Dakota until 1934 when her family moved to Idaho. Her family settled in the Star area. She graduated the Star High School Class of 1941. Afterwords she attended a business school in Nampa, Idaho and went on to work at the Dewey Palace Hotel, Sears Roebuck, and Colorado Milling.
Rosina married Charles Hereth June of 1946. They farmed on the Emmett bench until 1995.
Their grandkids from Washington state would visit during their summer vacations. One trip they treated the grandkids to a camping trip to Yellowstone National Park.
When they could take a break from farm chores, you'd find them camping and fishing at Warm Lake or Cascade Lake. They also enjoyed visiting friends and family.
When they retired, they sold the farm and built a home in Emmett. They continued to be Snowbirds in Needles, California for 10 years. Charles passed away June of 2011.
Rosina was a long-time active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed going to monthly lunches with neighbors and had regularly scheduled card games with a special bunch of ladies and a couple from church. In June of 2023, a 100-year party was held and many came to help her celebrate. She really enjoyed seeing so many. Mom moved to The Cottages July 1, 2024. The family would like to express appreciation to the wonderful staff for the loving care they gave their mom her last 3 months of life. Thank you to Julie Gough, her hospice nurse, and all the wonderful people at the hospice office.
