Jose Ganhao Obituary

Jose Luis Ganhão, 1951-2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jose on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at the age of 73 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jose is now reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Maria Leonor Ganhão, his cherished son-in-law, Marc Colangelo, and his parents and parents-in-law, Franciso and Elvira Ganhão and Digno and Margarida Alfaiate. He will be forever cherished and missed by his loving children, Luis (Irene) Ganhão and Ana Ganhão, his treasured grandchildren, Lucas and Selena Ganhão, and his devoted companion, Emilia Avila.

The outpouring of affection and appreciation for Jose during his short illness and since his passing has been remarkable. Jose’s honesty, bluntness, compassion, commitment, positive attitude, passion for soccer, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by his extended family, and numerous friends, colleagues, and clients. Jose leaves a legacy first and foremost through his children and grandchildren, who will strive to carry his lessons with them always.

Jose was a respected leader and proud member of the real estate community for 50 years. He owned and operated Estoril Real Estate Ltd., which started in 1976, and grew his operation in 1988, to join the HomeLife Family as HomeLife/City Hill Realty Inc. Throughout his career, Jose was a friend and mentor to many successful realtors and staff members, but none more so than to his son, who he worked with for 25 years. He was also a proud member of the Portuguese community and dedicated his time to several successful community and church soccer leagues, such as Vitoria Setubal Community Club of Toronto.

Jose, we love you and we will hold you in our hearts forever!
