Georgia Mae Cheatwood Obituary

Georgia Mae Cheatwood, age 97, passed away on October 31, 2024. She was born on September 28, 1927, in Rule, Texas, to Homer and Lila Jane (Smith) Turner. The family soon moved to Sweetwater, TX, and Georgia grew up there. She graduated from Sweetwater High School. On October 15, 1950, she married Carl J. Cheatwood. Georgia was a homemaker, and she and Carl enjoyed 33 wonderful years of marriage. They were blessed by the birth of their two daughters, Bennie Jane and Jan Diana.


Georgia loved the Lord and enjoyed going to church and singing old hymns. She delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren.


She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents; and her siblings.


She is survived by her daughters, Bennie Hodges and Jan Bennett and husband of Rick; 5 grandkids; 7 great grandkids; and extended family.


A graveside service for Georgia will take place at the Rule Cemetery in Rule, TX. Details are pending at this time.
