Joseph L. LaBonar Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share Joseph L. LaBonar passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024. Born on August 16, 1933 in Buffalo, NY, Joe lived a long and wonderful life. He resided in Chicago from 1935 until 1968 when he married his wife, Elizabeth. They raised their family on East Burr Oak Drive in Arlington Hts. After their divorce, Joe lived in Arlington Hts. and Wheeling until he moved to Sun City in Huntley for the final 24 years of his life.

Joe worked in the computer industry throughout his career. After retiring, he worked his favorite job as a starter at Pinecrest Country Club in Huntley. His most beloved pastime was spending time with his family and friends. He attended all his grandkids games, musicals, piano recitals, ice skating shows, and ceremonies. He loved a friendly game of poker, watching the Cubs, Bears and Notre Dame football, and listening to Dean Martin, Elvis Presley or the Four Seasons. Joe was known throughout Huntley; he would talk to everyone and never met a stranger. He had a great sense of humor and was always making people laugh.

Joe is survived by his family, whom he loved very much, children Dionne (Gary) Frantik and Gregory LaBonar; grandchildren, Jennifer (Matthew) Gaudiosi, Nicole (CJ) Solarte, Kathryn Frantik, Ryan Frantik and Zachary LaBonar; his dear sister, Greta (Gerald) Muscarello and many adored nieces and nephews.

We thank his treasured caregivers, William and Amanda and the amazing staff at Crescent Care in Elgin for taking wonderful care of him. Our family thanks you for your prayers, love and support. Joe was an extraordinary man who touched many lives and we know he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or one that you feel would be close to his heart.
