Joella Beauford, age 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Joella was born in Quality, Kentucky, to the late Leslie and Evelyn Sweatt, and her life was a testament to grace, strength, and boundless love. She was the cherished wife of the late Clarence Beauford Sr., and together they raised seven children with a foundation of faith, teaching them to live in the love and admonition of the Lord.
Known by many names—Momma, Gigi, Granny, and Big Granny—but none more heartfelt than Mom, Joella’s warmth and love touched everyone she met. She was a pillar of Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as an usher for many years, welcoming each person with her radiant smile and gentle spirit. Her church family and friends remember her as a woman of unshakable faith, dedicated to her community and to her family, whom she considered her greatest blessing.
Joella spent her professional years with the Greater Clark County Schools, where her kindness and patience were a source of comfort and guidance to many students and colleagues alike. In her retirement, she continued to dedicate her life to her family and her church, sharing her wisdom and faith with every generation. After retirement she enjoyed domestic travel, relishing in the sights, sounds, and history of America, and she found great comradery with her travel tour companions.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Clarence Beauford, Sr.; siblings, Minnie, Magdalene, Fred, and David Earl.
Survivors include her children, Patsy Overton, Delores Foster, Dianne Beauford, Arnetta Boyd (Kenneth), Elaine Beauford, Clarence Beauford, and Johnnie Florence (Phillip); grandchildren, Mario Beauford, Meccia Vaughn, Monique Beauford, Cory Beauford, Devon Lovely, Danielle Overton, and Jalen Oliver; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sisters, Mattie, Ruth, Barbara Ann, and Joyce; and her companion of many years, Evan McWilliams.
