Gary Peek, a cherished husband, father, brother, and Papaw, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 81.
Born on August 1, 1943, in the Claxton community of Caldwell County, Kentucky, Gary’s life was a testament to his dedication to his family and faith. A retired Operating Engineer with the Local 181 Operators Union, he also served as a former Grand Master of the Clinton Masonic Lodge and was a retired pastor of the Baptist faith. Passionate, knowledgeable and as stubborn as the many horses, ponies and mules that provided years of priceless family memories to generations of Peek children and grandchildren, his was a life well-lived, and his absence, not one to be filled.
Gary is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of sixty-one years, Wanda Rogers Peek; two daughters, Stacey (and Billy) Stalion and Terri Young (and Steve Cooper); one son, Robert Peek (and Laura), all of Princeton; three sisters, Dorothy Pool and Brenda Gilkey of Princeton, and Wilma Edmonds of Marshall County; one brother, Clarence Peek of Princeton. He was Papaw to many, including six grandchildren, Kayla (and Justin) Mitchell, Brandon Stalion, Dillan Peek, Kota Young, Ty (and Eric) Faughn, and Addison Peek (and Jesse McCarthy); and seven adored great-grandchildren, Cutter and Tate Mitchell, Emerye and Bekett Stalion, and Raylin, Jase and Brynlee Faughn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Cecil Peek and Jessie Mae Kennedy, and his siblings, Wanda Coble, Dean Dearing, and David Peek.
Visitation will be held from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Morgan’s Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Morgan’s Funeral Home with Bro. Eric Faughn officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
