Ann Pickens Obituary

(Ann Pickens) With heavy hearts, the children of Valeria Ann Glenn Pickens, share the sorrowful news that our beloved mother was called to her eternal home on October 30, 2024, at NHC of Anderson.

Born in Anderson, South Carolina, on January 27, 1938, to the late Mack Brown Glenn and Lois Price Glenn, Ann was a beacon of love and faithfulness.

As a devoted wife to the late Reverend David Pickens, who has eagerly awaited her arrival in heaven. She was the heart of our family, nurturing us with her warmth and kindness. Ann is survived by her children: Gail Parrish, Theron and Cathy Pickens, Carol and Joel Dyar, Glenda and Jeff Mize, and Michael and Shannon Pickens. A grandmother to twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her brother Bill Glenn and her sister Jane Felker, Ann is remembered by her sisters Martha Roberts and Irene Mullikin.

Ann’s laughter and smile brightened the darkest days. Her ability to find joy in the simple moments, along with her legendary hugs and memorable handshakes, made everyone feel cherished and loved. A faithful member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, she touched many lives through her faith in Jesus and by exemplifying a Christ-filled life.

We invite you to join us in celebrating our mother's beautiful life at The Standard Cremation and Funeral Center in Anderson, South Carolina on Saturday, November 2, 2024. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM. Dr. Glenn Taylor will officiate, and burial, beside her beloved husband, will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Caris Hospice.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at NHC and Caris Hospice for their compassionate care during this challenging time. Their kindness brought us comfort and will be forever appreciated.

Though our hearts ache with her loss, Ann’s light will forever shine within us. We honor her memory by striving to embody the kindness, love, and laughter she so generously shared with the world.
