Patricia Jean (Kunze) Lyman, 91 of Chesterville, Ohio passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024 peacefully at Grady Memorial Hospital, while surrounded by her family.
Pat was born March 17, 1933 in Mt. Gilead and grew up in Pulaskiville, Ohio. Her parents were the late Forrest and Lois Kunze. She graduated from Chesterville High School in 1951. Out of high school, she worked at The Ohio State University Extension Office in Columbus for approximately 10 years. Soon thereafter, she became a farm wife and homemaker to their family of four daughters.
Pat was a volunteer. Behind the scenes she would pull it all together. At church, at the school, within the community, Pat was known to plan meticulously, worry insistently, kept copious notes of banquets, dinners, reunions, breakfasts, so that not only would the events run smoothly, be documented, but also provide a guide for those that followed in her footsteps. Pat was a talented seamstress. Back in the day she made clothing for the girls and later on sewed blankets and quilts. She and Dale enjoyed traveling with the farming community and playing euchre with friends.
Patricia Jean Kunze married Dale Wesley Lyman, on June 19th, 1960.
A big fan of the Highland Fighting Scots, she enjoyed supporting both the music and athletic programs. She served the Highland Music Boosters as an Officer for over a decade. One of the family’s fondest memories was when Pat and Dale chaperoned the Band Trip to Washington D.C. She and Dale were inducted into the Highland Athletic Hall of Fame for their support of Highland Athletics in September of 2023.
She is survived by her children: Charlotte (Jerry) Sergent of Ashland, Kentucky, Cheryl (Tim) Hilborn of Chesterville, Lisa Lyman of Sunbury, and Karla (David) Wortman of Fairfax, Virginia; her grandchildren: Andrea (Jacob) Smith, Emily (Taylor) Thompson, Ashley (Jon) Widby, Zach (Erin) Hilborn, Nathan (Hannah) Hilborn, Meredith (Tim) Yates, Olivia Wortman; and 13 great grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Florence Lyman; and her brother, Carroll Kunze.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dale and sister Alice Fowls.
