Billy Herold "Bill" McCutcheon, 91, of Millwood, West Virginia, born
on August 4, 1933, in Marfrance, West Virginia, passed away on
Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Jackson General Hospital following a
sudden illness.
Known for his unwavering kindness, positive spirit,
and deep Godly wisdom, Bill’s life was a testament to his steadfast
faith and dedication to the Word of God. A devoted Christian, he spent
his life studying the Holy Bible and served as a great influence of
encouragement and strength to his family, friends, and acquaintances.
Bill was a member of Ripley Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Bill was the son of the late Jennings Perry “J. P.” McCutcheon and
Esta Mae (O'Dell) McCutcheon of Millwood, West Virginia. Throughout
his life, he fulfilled many roles: a son, a brother, a faithful and
loving husband of 62 years, a father, a grandfather, an uncle, a
dedicated giver, a teacher, a deacon, a soul-winner, a disciple, a
true craftsman, a skilled hunter and fisherman, and a cherished friend
to many. He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the
aircraft carriers USS Hornet and USS Essex, contributing to the
peacetime security of his beloved country on many deployments across
the world with honor and skill. Bill retired after a distinguished
career spanning over 32 years with Kaiser Aluminum in Millwood, West
Virginia. Subsequently, he successfully became a Realtor with Gorrell
Realty in Ravenswood, West Virginia.
Later in life, Bill suffered from a rare and progressive muscle
disease that eventually left him weakened and bound to a wheelchair.
While the disease did indeed take his muscles, it could not take the
man – Bill remained ingeniously self-sufficient and faced each
challenge with remarkable strength and determination. His gentle
demeanor and genuine love and care for others made him truly beloved
by those he lived to touch and influence.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lula Belle "Cindy" McCutcheon, his
daughter Kelly Shambley (Jay) of Apex, North Carolina, and his son,
Jennings Perry (Rhonda) of Evans, West Virginia; his grandchildren,
Seth Shambley (Bianca), Darby Warneke (Lee), Erica Roach (Jake), and
Olivia McCutcheon; and his great-grandchildren, Kensington, Lochlan,
Bridger, and Navy Warneke, and Justice “Jay” and Scout Shambley. He is
also survived by his sister, Carol Simms of Cleveland, Ohio, and his
brother, Jack McCutcheon (Kara) of Millwood, West Virginia. Bill was
preceded in death by his sister, Ethelene Watson.
A very special thank you is extended to Molly McCutcheon Miller for her
amazing and tireless loving care so graciously extended to Bill and

Uncle Bill.
