Georgia Lou Powell passed away peacefully in Horseshoe Bay, Texas on October 30, 2024. She was 88. Georgia was born on November 15, 1935, in Lockhart Texas, the daughter of Carl Leslie and Mattie Lee Ridgeway.
Georgia was a wonderful wife, loving mother, and grandmother. While raising her three daughters in Austin she spent time helping run Powell Builders with her husband Vince. Later in her career she worked for Texas American Bank Northcross assisting customers in the safety deposit department. She later went to work for Slater Painting working alongside her daughter Donna handling many of the duties of the front office.
Quiet and unassuming was a good way to describe Georgia, however, give her a bottle of egg nogg at Christmas and she would kick up her heels with the rest of the revelers. She loved to cook for her family and could whip up some of the best enchiladas in town. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, and her dressing was the best!
After retiring her life revolved around her grandkids and great grandkids. There wasn’t a day gone by that she didn’t ask about each of them, and she cherished every family visit, except when her grandsons would mess with her hair!
Georgia will be missed by all, but she left lasting memories for all to cherish.
Georgia was preceded in death by her loving husband Vincent Powell, her parents Carl and Mattie Ridgeway, and her two sisters, Gwendolyn Tiller and Maxine Cole. She is survived by her three daughters, Diana Lynn Hilsabeck and husband James, Donna Gwen Cearley and husband Mike, Sandra Gail Lindgren and husband Roger. Four grandchildren, Michael Cearley and wife Dezzray, Steven Lindgren and wife Jennifer, Kristen Floyd and husband Devin, and Shannon West. Eight great grandchildren, Autumn, Kali, Luke, Zayden, Harper, Hagan, Henlee and Kimber. And many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be at Beck Funeral Home in Cedar Park, Texas from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, November 3, 2024. Funeral services will be at Beck Funeral Home at 10am on Monday, November 4, 2024, with interment at Liberty Hill Cemetery immediately following the services. Pallbearers will be Steven Lindgren, Devin Floyd, Michael Cearley, Zayden Cearley, Peter Gase and Brett Powell. Honorary pallbearers are Leo Tiller, Terry Powell, Luke West and Hagan Floyd.
