Anthony C. Stankovich (Tony), 98, passed away on September 29, 2024.
Born in Cementon, NY in 1925 to the late Anthony K. and Anna M. (White) Stankovich.
He had a passion for automobiles and spent his career managing auto body repair shops. He was a very proud man and a hard worker and instilled those values in his family.
He built his and Peggy’s first home in Glenmont, NY where they lived for over 65 years. He enjoyed summer weekend camping trips where the family visited new locations and had many adventures. Tony and Peggy loved Polish music and would frequent the Albany Polish club to listen and dance to polkas.
Tony celebrated almost 71 years married to the love of his life. His dedication and care for his wife, Peggy, was an example to all. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and sharing his wisdom like how to make the perfect apple pie or zucchini bread.
He will be dearly missed for his humor, his dedication to his family and the example he set for all who knew him.
Tony is predeceased by his beloved wife Marguerite S. Stankovich; brother Stanley E. Stankovich of Catskill, NY; sister Pauline Wishart of East Greenbush, NY; and brother-in-law David O’Loughlin.
Survived by his loving children Anthony David Stankovich of Chicago, IL, Michael Stankovich of Plaistow, NH, Brian Stankovich (Mona) of South Berwick, ME, and Kathleen Clawar (Craig) of Chapel Hill, NC; brother Edward Stankovich of Troy, NY; sister Blanche Shimer of Middletown, NY; grandchildren Meagan Clawar, Michael Clawar (Jenna McChesney), Tiffany Hawthorne, Luke Stankovich, Brittany Stankovich, and Sarah Brinkman; great grandchildren Audrey Hawthorne, Conrad Hawthorne and Layla Brinkman; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A private graveside ceremony will be held for family members on Friday, November 15th at St. St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Catskill.
