Marshall H. Currin, 78, of Andrews passed away Monday, October 28, 2024 at his residence. Marshall was a native of Oxford, North Carolina where he was raised on the family farm. He left farming and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree. Marshall began as a woodworker operating his shop designing and building custom furniture for ten years. In 1988, he took a job at Baker Furniture where he worked as a supervisor until its closing. Marshall then worked for Cherokee County Schools as both a substitute teacher and maintenance technician. Woodworking was Marshall’s passion and he taught classes at John C. Campbell Folk School at various times throughout his life.
Marshall loved being outdoors; hiking and cross country camping. He was a veracious reader and a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
He was the son of the late Marsh H. and Lucille Frazier Currin.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, M. Ellen Davis of Andrews; their son, Christopher Frazier Hart Currin and fiancé, Katie L. Watchorn of Reidsville, South Carolina; his two sisters, Jane C. Hamilton of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Betty C. Evins and husband, George of Gloucester, North Carolina; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service was held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 2, 2024 in St. Andrew Lutheran Church with Father Horace Free officiating. A reception was held in the fellowship hall following the services.
The family received friends from 1-2 Saturday afternoon, November 2, 2024 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, prior to the services.
