Lowell Deward Forister passed away in his home in Pismo Beach, CA on October 23,2024. Lowell would have turned 96 in November. His wife, Earnesteen (of 51 years), his step-daughter Judith and her husband, Larry, were with him as he went to be with the Lord.
Lowell was born in Atwood, OK on 11/10/1928. Lowell married Zola Douglas and they had 2 children, Michael and Cherry. Lowell and his family moved to Grover City in 1949. Zola passed away in 1970. Lowell married Earnesteen Stanfill on Oct. 21, 1973 in Reno, NV.
Lowell joined the volunteer fire department and served in that capacity for 32 years including 16 years as fire chief. He ran for city council and became a councilman. Lowell served 1 term as Grover City mayor. While Lowell was mayor the city changed its name to Grover Beach.
Lowell is a 50+ year member of the Oceano Elks, long time member of the Lions Club, Eagles and Moose Lodge and the RAMS,
Lowell leaves behind a loving family, his wife, Earnesteen, stepdaughters Judith Cobbs and Sherri Peerson and daughter-in-law Pam Forister. He has a combined family of 8 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many loving friends and relatives. Lowell was preceded in death by his son Michael Forister and his daughter Cherry Allden. Their ashes will be buried with Lowell.
Lowell's service will be thru Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel. The ceremony will be a graveside service at Arroyo Grande Cemetery on Wednesday October 30th at 2pm.
