Kecia Yvette Smith, 35, of Little Rock, AR departed this life peacefully in her home in Frisco, Texas on October 14th, 2024. May 5, 1989, she was born to Kristina Annette Smith and Henry Curtis Comas.
She was preceded in death by her mother Kristina Annette Smith, maternal great grandparents Emmett and Mattie Watson, paternal great-grandfather Joseph Smith Sr. and great-grandmother Alice Smith, great uncle Dennis Watson and aunt Kimberly Ann Smith.
Kecia attended Mitchell Elementary School kindergarten through fifth grade, Dunbar Middle School sixth through eighth grade, and Kecia graduated from Parkview Arts and Science Magnet High School in 2007. Kecia received a bachelors in Interpretation: ASL/English in 2013. In 2023, Kecia enrolled in the masters in Deaf Education at Texas Woman's University. Kecia was expected to graduate in May 2025.
Kecia moved to Texas in 2017 to pursue a career as an American Sign Language (ASL) teacher. Kecia was an ASL teacher for several Texas school districts for seven years, and continued her ASL teaching career from home working with Edmentum.
Kecia leaves to cherish father Henry Curtis Comas, grandmother Shirley Spencer, grandfather Joseph (Elvira) Smith Jr., brother Barry Smith, sister Corvette Smith, nieces JBrea Smith, Kelyss Caldwell, & Soulene Smith and nephew Kartell Turner, best friend Dominique (Jerry) Parker, and a host of other relatives and friends.
