Annetta Monden Obituary

Annetta Eileen Monden was born September 20, 1945 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Lee Bernard and Charline Edna (Baker) Short Sasser. She passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of Jesus Christ on October 25, 2024.

Annetta was one of 5 children born to Lee and Charline: Bernard Lee, Franklin Perry and twins Lela K and Larry Ray. Raised on a farm, she always joked about how they had running water because they ran outside and got it. She loved and honored her parents; her family was a major support to her. She had a strong mother who put that same strength, tenacity and creative thinking into her, which helped Annetta to make things work in tough times. She was raised on the farm, but she was a town girl at heart. As a teenager she could be seen running down Oklahoma Street from the high school to the Carnegie Library to return books and check out more, as she was an avid reader. She graduated from Guthrie High School in 1963 and married Kenneth Ray Monden, Sr the same year and they had 3 children together: Kenneth Ray Monden Jr, William Allen Monden and Lorri Ann Monden Hamilton. Annetta attended Central State University for 2 years while raising her kids and working full-time.

She loved her children and lived her life for them. It was never easy providing for and raising her children who often had her sitting in emergency rooms with broken bones, stitches, sprains, the list goes on. These things taught her to lean on Jesus for strength and guidance and to trust Him for everything. She always had a deep hunger for God and loved Him with all her heart. In 1975 she had an awesome life-changing experience in the Lord when He filled her with the Holy Ghost. She attended Lighthouse Tabernacle and faithfully taught Sunday School for 20+ years, as well as teaching preschool and Kindergarten in the church’s private school.

Some of her favorite memories were of time spent with her family and working the big holidays at Crescent Floral owned by her Mother and sister Lela. Those times were precious to her because she enjoyed the family coming together, working, laughing sharing and being utter exhausted at the end of the crazy day.

Annetta loved her kids dearly but when those grandbabies came along, she had a whole new focus and they were her absolute joy! They always knew at Granny’s house you can eat anything you want, even for breakfast. For several years she owned and operated a home daycare, and all the little ones also called her Granny. She loved them all and developed lasting friendships with several of the parents.

Annetta’s other work history spanned from working in 4 hospitals, postal clerk in Crescent, Job Corp scheduling and Administrative Assistant at the Oklahoma State Corporation Commission where she retired with Citation Honors from the Governor of Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Bernard Short and Charline Short Sasser; brothers Larry Short, Bernard Short and Franklin Short; daughter-in-law Tamara Lynn Monden.

She is survived by her children Kenny Monden of Porum, OK, Lorri and husband Bill Hamilton of Guthrie, OK and Rev William and wife Mary Monden of Midwest City, OK; Grandchildren Caitie Monden, Billy Ray Hamilton, Patrick Wright, Madison and husband Trey Mason, Tres and wife Hannah Monden, Jonathan Monden, Peter Monden, William Monden Jr and Caleb Monden; Great grandchildren Layla Stratz, Charlie and Walker Mason and one on the way; Sister Lela and husband Larry Williams of Guthrie as well as several cousins and all the nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be November 1 from 9am to 11am at Community Funeral home in Guthrie, OK with the Service starting at 11am there. Graveside will be following at Summit View Cemetery.

She is so much loved by all her family and so many friends. Special thanks to Golden Age Nursing home for the loving care you gave her.
