Betty J. McGovern, 91, of Keewaydin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the Mountain Laurel Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield. Born on March 7, 1933, in Keewaydin, she was the daughter of the late Irvin E. and Edith L. (Damey) Renoe. On September 23, 1966, she married Patrick M. “Dutch” McGovern in Karthaus; he preceded her in death on August 25, 2011.

Betty attended Clearfield High School and devoted her life to being a homemaker, creating a loving environment for her family. Her greatest wish was for their safety and happiness.

A member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Karthaus, Betty enjoyed a variety of pastimes, including puzzles—particularly word searches—as well as coloring, quilting, crocheting, camping, and yard work. She cherished spending time with her family, especially during picnics.

Betty is survived by her brother, Haskell I. Renoe of Keewaydin, and her daughter-in-law, Marcia M. Hubler of Clearfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons—Calvin L. Hubler (1987) and Alan S. Hubler (1975)—as well as two brothers, Richard L. Renoe and Earl Renoe, and four sisters, Marilyn Swartz, Emily Viehdorfer, Evelyn Viehdorfer, and Mable Reno.

A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 10 to 11 AM at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Snow Shoe. The funeral service will follow at 11 AM, officiated by Rev. Vicki Beilfuss. Betty will be laid to rest beside her husband at Keewaydin Cemetery.
