Shelby M. Chambers, age 87, of Snow Shoe, peacefully passed away on October 23, 2024, at the home of her daughter, Patti, in Middlebury Center, PA. Born on December 11, 1936, in Snow Shoe, she was a daughter of the late Warren and Genevieve (Shaw) Wenrick. On July 7, 1956, she married David W. Chambers, Sr. who preceded her in death on May 26, 2024.
A proud graduate of Snow Shoe High School’s Class of 1954, Shelby was a member of the Queen of Archangel Parish Church in Clarence.
Throughout her life, she was a beacon of love and support for her family, creating a nurturing home filled with warmth and laughter.
Shelby had a passion for camping, particularly at the Centre County Grange Fair, where she made many joyful memories. For years, she was an active member of the Snow Shoe Women’s Club and served on the Election Board, always ready to contribute to her community. An avid Penn State football fan, she spent every fall Saturday afternoon cheering on her team from the comfort of her home. Her enthusiasm extended beyond the screen, as she was a dedicated supporter of her grandchildren’s sporting events, taking immense pride in their achievements.
Shelby leaves behind a loving family, including her four children: Diana J. Rees of Snow Shoe, Larry D. Chambers of Snow Shoe, Patricia C. Mihalik and her husband, Rick, of Middlebury Center, and David W. Chambers, Jr. and his wife, Amanda, of Snow Shoe. She was a doting grandmother to seven grandchildren: Nicholas, Jonathan, Brittany, Kelly, Carly, Joshua, and Danielle, and a proud great-grandmother to Jensen, Kinsley, and Isabella. Shelby is also survived by her sister, Denise Surovec and her husband, Dennis, of Snow Shoe.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shelby was preceded in death by her brother, Warren Wenrick, Jr. and her son in-law, Gregory Rees.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 10 AM to 12 noon, followed by a funeral service officiated by Pastor Ed Siddle at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Snow Shoe. Burial will be private at Centre County Memorial Park, College Township.
