James Whicker, 87, passed away on October 21, 2024, in his home, in Bedford, Kentucky. James was born in Booneville, Kentucky to the late Clyde Whicker and Katie (Wilson) Whicker. James married the love of his life Sarah (Thevenow) Whicker on December 31, 1988, in Milton, Kentucky. James was a veteran who served in the United States Army. He retired in 1995 from Jefferson Proving Grounds after thirty years of dedication. He had a love for electric trains, cars, car clubs and collecting antiques. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Katie Whicker; two sisters, Lonice Zollman and Clyda Lodge. James is survived by his wife, Sarah (Thevenow) Whicker; his two daughters, Beth Ann (Robert) Murray and Gretchen Whicker; one son, James (Amanda) Asbury; one step son, Les (Linda) Ball; nine grandchildren, Brittany Rethman, Amy Murray, Paul Murray, Lauren Claire Murray, Cody Cowles, Taylor Thomas, Dallas Beaver, Bryce Asbury and Gage Asbury; five step grandchildren, Taylor (Grace) Ball, Jessica (Alex) Ozier, Conner Ball, Amy Abell, and Tristan Ward; seven great grandchildren, Matthew Rethman, Emery Cowles, Mason Beaver, Hayden Beaver, Hudson Beaver, Treyton Thomas and Kylee Thomas; one sister, Verliss Baugh. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation will be on Saturday, prior to the service starting at 1:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana.
