Miss Dottie Musselman Obituary

Dottie "Miss Dottie" Musselman passed away on October 15, 2024, at the age of 84. Dottie was born on January 30, 1940, in Dayton, OH, and remained a lifelong resident, touching the hearts of all who knew her.

Dottie was the light and center of her family. She leaves behind her sons, Jeff (Jenny) and Bob (Anne) Vance; grandchildren, John Vance, Joshua Vance, Shannon (Jonathon) Stark, and Jeggy Remata; great-grandchild Evelyn Stark; stepson Ron (Kathy) Musselman; and her devoted siblings, Betty (Les) Massengale, Gary Rumer, and Lynn Gray. Dottie was reunited in death with her beloved husband, Charles Musselman; her parents, Walter and Mary Rumer; her grandchild, Jenifer Vance; and her siblings, Dolores Stowe, Madge Rumer, Darlene Huntsman, and Terrence Rumer, as well as in-laws Keith Gray, Gordon Stowe, and Sheri Rumer, who had all passed before her.

Dottie was an extraordinary woman who graduated with an associate’s degree before embarking on her true calling: caring for children. After experiencing the profound joy of raising her own children, she opened the Little Brown School, a haven for kids in her neighborhood. Her unwavering dedication to childcare spanned over five decades, during which she affectionately became known as "Miss Dottie." For many families, her loving care extended through three generations, and she was proud to serve her community, working tirelessly for usually 14 hours a day.

Miss Dottie was best described as loving and faith-filled. She lived with an open heart and hands, embracing the role of 'everyone's mom.' Her unending warmth, kindness, and nurturing spirit made her a cornerstone in the lives and growth of so many. Her legacy will continue to bloom in the lives of those she cared for and in the innumerable seeds of love she planted throughout her remarkable life.

Dottie's memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories, laughter, and loving memories she shared with all. Her spirited presence and the impact she left on this world will never be forgotten.
