John "Jack" L. Schaffer, beloved husband of the late Anna Rose (nee Gilene) Schaffer, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the age of 92. A lifelong resident of North College Hill, Jack was known for his kindness, generosity, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family.
He is survived by his devoted children: John (Roel Aguilan) Schaffer, Roseann (Brian) Knue, Cathy (Kevin) Mullaney, and Michael (Lisa) Schaffer. Jack was a cherished grandfather to Emily Parisey, Laura (Tim) Fogarty, Zachary Schaffer, Rebecca (Michael) Maxwell, Matthew Schaffer, Kelsey Mullaney, Scott Schaffer, Evan Mullaney, Alex (Jenna) Knue, and Ben Mullaney. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Madelyn and Lucas Fogarty.
Jack was a loving brother to Rosalyn (Pat) Murphy, Dorothy (Bill) Hodapp, Rev. Carl Schaffer, Robert (Mary) Schaffer, George (Janice) Schaffer, Jean (Jim) Depenbrock, Loretta (Howard) Forsythe, Jo Ann (Frank) Glenn, Mary Kay (Don) Wilson and Martha Miller. He was a beloved father-in-law to the late Kevin Mullaney and is survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
A sports enthusiast, Jack dedicated much of his time to attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, setting a strong example of work ethic and commitment. He was a longtime volunteer at St. Margaret Mary Church and in his community, and he loved playing golf with his sons and grandsons. Jack and Anna shared 67 wonderful years of marriage and cherished their travels together. We want to thank the caring staff at Artis Senior Living of Mason for all they have done for Jack during his time there.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret Mary Church, 1830 W. Galbraith Rd., North College Hill, on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 10:30 AM, to honor Jack’s life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Margaret Mary Church or Queen City Hospice.
