Ronald Franklin "Ron" Hamrick, a cherished husband, father, uncle and friend, left our world on October 21, 2024, at his home in Star City after a brief illness. Born on January 3, 1951, in Morgantown, West Virginia, Ron's warmth and generosity touched many throughout his 73 years of full and vibrant life.
In his youth, Ron attended University High School before furthering his education at West Virginia University. He ventured into various roles early in his career but ultimately discovered his niche in sales. Ron's charismatic and engaging nature led to a prosperous career in sales positions before enjoying his well-earned retirement.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Becky Hamrick, daughter, Heather Gentile, and her husband, John, of Morgantown, sister-in-law Judy Hamrick, nieces and nephews Jennifer Burkhead (Neal), Julie Zwadyk (Vince), Jay Hamrick, Ed Hamrick (Stephanie), Bobby Wilson (Kristy), and Dan Wilson, great-nieces and nephews Jonathan, Joshua, Walsh, Connor, Hannah, Brittani, and Brooke, and great-great nieces and nephew Freya, Bella and Memphis. Ron stood as the last surviving member of his immediate family, preceded in death by his parents, Orville “Buck” Hamrick and Marjorie Hamrick, brother Don 'Punk' Hamrick, and sister, Delores Jeanne Hamrick.
Travel was one of Ron's passions, with a particular fondness for sunny destinations like Florida and the Caribbean, igniting his spirit far away from the cold which he was not fond of. Ron was appreciated for his kind heart and deep understanding of the value of relationships. He was an individual whose generosity was felt in every gesture, and his selfless nature made an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Ron will be remembered as a man who made the world brighter for his family and friends. His legacy is a tapestry of love, commitment, and generosity that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. Ron's story is not one of closure, but a continuing narrative of the love he shared and the lives he has improved by simply being himself. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered and celebrated always.
Ron’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Alan Hess for his dedicated and compassionate support over the years, and a special thank you to Care Partners for their recent care.
Following Ron’s cremation, a gathering of friends and family will take place at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 11 AM to 1 PM. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
