Jonesboro- Effie Gibson Carter Wise, 89, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018. She was born January 5, 1929 in Jonesboro to the late Robert and Katie Johnson Gibson. She was a homemaker and had worked as a cook in several restaurants. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by two sons, Michael David Carter and Anthony Gene Carter. Mrs. Wise was survived by her children, Marilyn Russell of Jonesboro and Garland Carter of Hot Springs; five grandchildren, Johnny Russell and Billy Russell of Jonesboro, Matt Carter and Shannon Sanders of Hot Springs and Greg Carter of Texas; four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. A graveside service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Pine Hill Cemetery. Interment will follow under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
