It is with profound sorrow that the family of Winfred "Fred" Teague announces his passing on October 14, 2024. Born on February 16, 1956, Winfred's life journey, marked by laughter, faith, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones, has come to a peaceful close.


Known also as OG Freddy T and Fred, Winfred was a man of wit and charm, truly caring about those he held dear. His personality was as colorful as his favorite color, purple, lighting up the rooms he entered and hearts he touched.


Winfred Teague, born February 16, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan. In 1962 the family relocated to Chicago, Illinois. Winfred attended Gresham elementary school and was a graduate of Calumet High School where he played football. After High School he attended Knoxville College in Knoxville, Tennessee. He is a 32nd degree Mason, affiliated with Prince Hall in Racine, Wi. He made friends wherever he traveled. He loved working at Waste Management and his customers he serviced.


He leaves behind a loving family that includes his wife, Kimberly Teague, his sons Kayon (Maddy) Teague and Nathaniel (Lil Nate) Novell, and his daughter Keeliah (Marcus) Hampton. His siblings, Anthony (Valerie) Teague, Cynthia (Terry)Williams, Rosemary Teague, and Jacquelin Teague as well as 3 (Kai’er, Khariana, Kierah) grandchildren and an host of nieces and nephews also mourn his loss. His father and mother Louie & Rose Teague, had preceded him in passing as well as his nephew Timothy Teague.


A dedicated sports enthusiast, Winfred took great delight in watching his favorite teams, the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Lakers, perform. Fishing was another pursuit that brought him much joy and tranquility. Beyond these hobbies, he harbored a strong commitment to causes close to his heart, which notably included spending quality time with his children and attending bible classes and church services on Sundays. Fred was an ordained deacon with New Omega Baptist Church and was the dedicated chairman of the Men's Ministry. 


Winfred was always there to provide a helping hand, a listening ear, and words of wisdom to those around him. Among the many life lessons he bestowed upon his loved ones, "Never give up" was one that was foundational to his character and outlook in life.


As we bid farewell to Winfred, we celebrate the legacy of love, determination, and faith he leaves behind. The memories he created will continue to bristle with life in the hearts of those who loved him. May his soul rest in peace while the recollections of his inspirational life continue to guide us.
