Lillian Solomon passed away peacefully on February 5, 2016 at the age of 93, with her family at her bedside. Lillian was preceded in death by her loving parents, Nancy and Eshaiya Badal, her two sisters Elizabeth Sargis (Evan), Audrey Tamraz (Joel) and her two brothers Jonathan and William Badal; also, her beloved husband Gilbert, of 63 years. Lillian is survived by her children: Barbara, Jean (Rafael), Mark (Sylvia), and her precious grandsons Ricky and Joey Solomon. Lillian attended Raphael Weill Grammar School, John Swett Jr. High, Girls High School and Heald Business School; her first job after graduating was for the government at Fort Mason. From a very young age, Lillian was full of energy and had a yearning to travel. As our country entered into WWII, she enlisted in the Women's Reserve of the United States Naval Reserve - WAVES, and remained there for the duration of the war. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, she worked for Firemen's Fund Insurance Company. During her time there she participated in many activities such as baseball, basketball, bowling, drama and was also a member of the choir. At the age of 27 she met the love of her life, Gilbert. Married in 1950, the two shared an incredible love story. Together they created a strong foundation for their family. Lillian was very adventurous, and enjoyed traveling to new places. She loved getting lost in books and had a passion for learning new things. She was fond of the arts and a long time member of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and visited regularly. Some of her favorite pastimes included singing, socializing, shopping, and dressing to the nines. She had a zest for life and always shared her enthusiasm with those around her. Spending quality time with loved ones, reminiscing about the past, and sharing stories of her childhood brought her great joy. Lillian took great pride in her family. She was a supportive wife, caring mother, and most of all, a wonderful Nana to her grandsons. Her love and devotion will be remembered and treasured forever. A celebration of Lillian's life will be held at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM.
