Eugenia Carafides Xydis, born January 23, 1938 passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024. Jeannie as her family and friends called her, grew up in West Philadelphia and moved to Havertown PA with her parents, Leon & Anna (Shaiko) Carafides when she was a teenager. Following graduation from Haverford High School, she attended Harcum Jr. College.  Jeannie went on to work as a secretary for General Electric. Eventually, she met Faedon E. Xydis (Don), an electrical engineer through family friends. They married when she was 19 years of age and soon welcome three children, Evangelos (Van), Elaine and Jason. For most of their marriage, they lived in a lovely home in Wayne PA. When the kids were grown, Jeannie was also an award-winning realtor. Jeannie and Don also spent many wonderful, memory filled summer years at their beloved home in Cape May Point, New Jersey.

Van married Colleen and had three children, Chris, Shannon and Nick. Jason married Kelly and had two children, Elizabeth and Ethan. Elaine married John and had twins, Nina and Justin.

Jeannie was a very loving, caring and thoughtful, mother and grandmother. She always put her children and grandchildren before her own needs. Being a wonderful mother and grandmother was  most important to her and her proudest accomplishment. She will be missed and cherished forever by her surviving children and grandchildren with all our love.

Family and friends are invited to her funeral service on Wednesday October 23, 2024 11am at St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church, 35 N. Malin Rd., Broomall, PA 19008.  Interment will be private at a later date.
