R. Scott Perry, Jr. Obituary

R. Scott Perry Jr., passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, on October 14, 2024, at the age of 70 following a bicycle accident.

Scott was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Ray and Julia Perry. As a teenager he met his wife, Barb, and they recently celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary.

Scott summered at Lake James as a child and early in his career he moved his family to Jimmerson Lake where he lived until his passing.

Scott worked at the same firm as his father until 2001 when he founded Perry Law Office in Fort Wayne. He worked alongside his son for 12 years until he “mostly” retired in 2022.

He enjoyed all things water and in the summer spent his days sitting by the lake or cruising on his boat. In the winter, fall or any time it got below 50 degrees, he ran to warmer weather in Marathon Key and recently Punta Gorda. In his later years, he started camping and traveling with his wife, favorite child/dog (Charly) and parrot (Ralphie).  Lots of fun and “unique” gifts were brought back for loved ones.

Scott loved music, especially live concerts with family/friends and playing fantasy football. Whenever possible, you would see him out playing pickleball, he even built a court in his backyard.

He recently purchased an RV and was excited to hit the road once he saw the first leaf change color.

Scott/Husband/Dad/Papa/Brother/Friend was taken from us too soon. He will be forever missed and loved.

He is survived by his wife, Barb Perry, and their four children: Brenda (Will) Fresch, Ray (Alicia) Perry, Sam (Rachel) Perry, and Diane (Wade) Boggs. When it came to being a grandpa, Papa was the best. He had a gaggle of grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Liv, Liam, and Ari Fresch; Ramon IV, Reese, Ruby, Archer, and Stone Perry; and Juniper, Ivy, and Malcolm Boggs. These wonderful grandkids will carry on his spunk, great sense of humor, and maybe a little bit of his stubbornness. He is also survived by his brother, Jeff (LeAnn) Perry; sister, Jana (Val) Eylands; sister, Jo Ann Jones; and in-laws Ruby Brouer and Linda (Randy) Shuff.

Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Perry and father, Ray Perry.

At Scott’s request, there will be no funeral services.
