Danny Fox Obituary

Roger Daniel “Danny” Fox, 69, of Benwood, WV, went peacefully to be with his Savior October 15, 2024, surrounded by family.

Danny was born August 25, 1955, alongside his twin brother Ronald David Fox. From the start, these 2 of 8 were a couple of pranksters and best friends their whole lives. A Christian by faith, Danny served the First Church of God in McMechen from the time he was young, first in the Sunday School and the CGYA and then as an elder for 47 years, as well as a Sunday School teacher, council president, and lay pastor. In addition, he, wife Patti, twin brother Dave, and sister-in-law Dru performed as the revered Fox Family quartet of singers to bring the Gospel to churches and communities across the tristate area. They performed many times in the 1170 Christmas and Gospel Jamborees and recorded an album, all to share their faith with the world.

Danny was above all a family man. He cherished time with his siblings, especially during a heated euchre tournament with his brothers, and he looked forward to every holiday and family reunion to spend even more time with those he loved. A self-proclaimed “lore master” of Lord of the Rings, Danny was only too happy to share his nerdy interests with his two daughters and his nieces and nephews. In fact, his preferred method of communicating was quoting his favorite TV shows and movies, especially The Wizard of Oz and Westerns. Danny was a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys from childhood, and he could always be found cheering on (and sharing some criticism of) his favorite team. He was a handyman who could repair just about anything, and he relished the challenges of remodeling, woodworking, and fixing “stuff that don’t work.”

Danny is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Naomi (Williams) Fox; brothers Clarence Richard (Nancy) Fox, William Fredrick Fox, and John Michael Fox; and sisters Diana Lee (David) Clatterbuck and Peggy Jean (Tommy) Minor.

He is survived by his beloved wife and other half Patricia Arthur Fox; daughters Stacey (Geoff Splendorio) Fox and Christy Fox; brothers Ronald David (Dru) Fox and Charles Martin (Judy) Fox; many nieces and nephews, and too many cousins to count.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, October 21, 2024 from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Benwood-McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall St., where funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 22, at 11 am with Pastor Mitch Johnston officiating. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
