James T. Snyder, 90, of Toms River, NJ passed away on October 14. He was born in Baltimore, MD and worked for the Hecht Co. as a menswear buyer. Moving to Toms River in 1964 to work as a salesman for Levi’s and Blue Bell in the Northeast. He later became a partner in Wallachs Sporting Goods, TR.
After he retired, Jim was a director for Ocean First Bank and a longtime member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society. He loved fishing and was a world record holder, hunting and golf, becoming a member emeritus at the Manasquan River Golf Club.
He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Lynn Snyder and his son-in-law Ronald Shepherd. Surviving are his daughters, Dru Shepherd, Anne Kanakis with husband Chris Kanakis and his son James C. Snyder with wife Esme Usdan. Jim will be missed by his grandchildren, Chris, Alexis and Andrew Snyder, Justine Shepherd Aten with husband Matt Aten and Elliot Shepherd with his fiancée Heather Martin. He will also be missed by his great-grandson’s Liam Aten and Ronnie Shepherd.
Funeral services will be held at St. Barnabas RCC in Bayville, NJ on Thursday Oct. 24 at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Barnabas.
