It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosangela Ballesteros, who left this world on October 14, 2024, in Phoenix, AZ, at the age of 72. Born on February 25, 1952, in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, Brazil, Rosangela lived a full and impactful life dedicated to her faith, family, and community.
Rosangela earned her bachelor’s degree in art education and Bible studies and was a co-owner of the renowned Clinic of Iridology and Naturopathy in Brazil. She was passionate about her work as a Bible study instructor and was a dedicated volunteer, giving her time and energy to numerous causes. Her heart for service led her to assist women in prison and parole, the needy, and the elderly, always striving to lift up those in need.
She had a love for learning, reading, singing, and going on walks, and cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. Her adventurous spirit took her around the world, and she even completed the Dublin Marathon. As a talented artist, Rosangela expressed her creativity through various mediums, including painting, clay sculpture, and drawing. She was also a pioneer in multiple fields, becoming one of Brazil’s first computer programmers in the early 1970s and introducing
Kundalini yoga to the country by teaching daily classes and organizing retreats in the 80s.
Rosangela’s life was rooted in her faith, and her devotion to God was the foundation of her actions. She was selfless, generous, and kind, always prioritizing the needs of others above her own. Known for her competitive spirit in games and her active involvement in her church and community, she filled her life with purpose and joy, serving both her faith and her family with passion and love.
Rosangela is survived by her beloved children: Ananda and her daughter Thaty; Guru Amrit, her husband Rab, and their children Torin and Nina; Siri Kirtan, her husband Ryan, and their children Hans and Iris; Haridev and her daughters Lilian, Evalynne, and Susan; and Ramon, his wife Lauren, and their son Bruce. She is also survived by her brothers Jair, Carlos Roberto, and Silas; her sisters Maria Alice and Fatima ; and her ex-husband Floyd. Rosangela was a light in the lives of all who knew her, and her kindness and dedication to service will be remembered by many.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 20, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Hansen Mortuary Chapel, located at 8314 N. 7th St., Phoenix, AZ. Her funeral service will take place on Monday, October 21, at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2312 E Campbell Ave, Phoenix, AZ, followed by the burial at 1 p.m. at Saint Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N 48th St, Phoenix, AZ.
